Permanent Hair Reduction - Laser Hair Removal Services

Imagine having smooth, hair free skin without shaving, waxing, plucking or bleaching your unwanted hair.  Using the Candela laser technology known as the GentleLase Plus, we offer safe, fast, effective treatments for dark unwanted hair for both men and women.

Unlike other treatments and lasers, the GentleLase process is easy requiring no creams or gel, no pre-treatment waxing and no needles.  Laser hair removal is a medical breakthrough and a huge time saver when you are getting ready each day.
Treatments are comfortable, treating hair follicles in a fraction of the time of other methods.  Call us at 503-445-2200 and ask for a “Hair Laser Packet” be sent to your for pricing information.

The procedure is performed with Michelle Walsh, R.N., who has been certified through Candela; and she is supervised by Marla Klein, M.D., a Board Certified Dermatologist, at all times.  Protocols are stringently obeyed for patient safety and to avoid complications.

Lasers have been used for many years for a variety of medical cosmetic procedures including treatment of facial and leg veins, age spots and rejuvenating the skin on the face.

The GentleLase Plus system, a revolutionary long-pulse high energy alexandrite laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed.  The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.  Check out the animated videos of procedures for further information on process.

The skin is further protected during the treatment by a Dynamic Cooling Device where cryogen is sprayed on to the skin cooling the upper layers and providing patients with increased comfort.

The GentleLase selectivity helps to protect the skin, while effectively treating the unwanted hair.

The GentleLase laser is best suited to remove darkly pigmented hairs.  Lasers do not work on white, blonde, or red hairs, to gain the permanent result.

Pigmented Lesion Removal

The Palomar StarLux 500 Lux G and Lux V IPL units are perfectly suited for removal of freckles and age spots.

It is imperative a dermatologist does a thorough skin examination first to make sure there isn’t a deadly unsuspected melanoma present.  A consultation with a board-certified dermatologist is recommended first before undergoing this procedure at Klein Dermatology and Associates or any medi-spa.

The IPL units are especially effective when a person has a combination of brown spots and redness to remove at one time; with very little down-time.  We have found it extremely effective for those annoying vessels on the sides of the nose.   Call us at 503-445-2200 for pricing information.

Vascular Laser Services

The Candela Vbeam laser is specially designed to produce an intense b gentle burst of laser light that is optimized to treat vascular lesions such as:

Telangiectasias - facial spider veins

Rosacea  - persistent redness stage of rosacea

Angiomas - small red spots which may be slightly raised or just beneath the surface of the skin.

Port Wine Stains - red birthmarks, and strawberry hemangiomas

Scars - red raised scars that are often caused by surgery, trauma or burns; removes the redness, but not the scar itself

Warts - viral infection, although reports of laser effective against warts, this is not our first line of defense; a host of other remedies is available at the dermatology office

Stretch Marks - frequently appear after pregnancy or growth spurts, laser removes redness but not the stretch mark itself

The Candela Vbeam laser is specially designed to produce an intense but gentle burst of laser light that is optimized to treat vascular lesions.

Vbeam treatments are safer than previous electrical or thermal methods because of its unique ability to selectively threat the blood vessels of a vascular lesion with adversely affecting the surrounding tissue.  Thus, it will eliminate many lesions while leaving the surrounding skin and skin pigment intact.

In fact, the laser is so safe and effective that it is recommended for the treatment of infants as young as a few weeks old.

Iridex DioLite

Another laser used at Klein Dermatology and Associates for vascular lesions is called the DioLite laser.  It is useful for removing multiple cherry hemangiomas (red small moles) from the body with minimal pain, and for removal of stubborn spider veins around the nose.

We will often use the Vbeam and DioLite in combination treatments for clearing the face of redness and vessels for rosacea patients.

Lumière

This photo facial or light rejuvenation treatment is from a light emitting diode and is 100% painless and actually pleasant for most people.

Lumière works with the body's own natural processes to counteract the effects of chronological and photo-aging. The patented Lumière Light-Therapy™ device uses an array of carefully arranged LEDs to deliver pure, uniform, narrowband red light and works with Lumière Topical Skincare™ to activate a series of responses in the skin that convert light energy into the cellular building blocks required by the body.

Lumière is a 100% natural skincare regime that is non-laser, non-thermal, and non-invasive. The FDA has advised that the Lumière Light-Therapy™ device can be safely used to deliver cosmetic treatments and that the Lumière Light-Therapy™ device poses no risk to clients. No recovery time is needed and, not only is it pain-free, but clients often report a heightened sense of well-being and relaxation during the session.
Dr. Klein doesn’t agree with many of the claims made on the Lumière web site http://www.pathwaytobeauty.com/  but she does provide it to patients as an alternative who desire a completely non-invasive treatment for facial rejuvenation.

The red light applied to faces for 20 minutes per week has been found to be beneficial for patients with acne, seborrheic dermatitis, and psoriasis.
